Nintendo Switch: what ended, and Switch 2

Original Switch

Unplayable since 4 August 2026

Respawn announced in January 2026 that Season 29 would be the last update for the original Switch. From Season 30 the game no longer runs there, because it needs EA's servers. Your progress, cosmetics and Apex Coins move to Switch 2 with the same EA Account — even if you buy a Switch 2 later — but Switch coins can't move to any other platform, and Switch purchases are not refunded. Nintendo Switch 2

Out since 5 August 2025

Runs at up to 60 FPS, at 1920×1080 docked and 1792×1008 handheld. Move over with Nintendo's System Transfer, or sign in on Switch 2 with the same Nintendo Account, download the game and log into your EA Account. Nintendo
